Our family has some really exciting news. We’ve been working on this for a couple of months and now want to share it with the world.
The news? We are going to South Africa, hopefully in about a year, to meet the newest member of our family. We don’t know much about this child – what they look like or whether they are a boy or girl. We do know this orphan is without a family, we know that they will be between the ages of 5-8, and we know that our family will be changed forever. We made a video that might help answer the questions, why adoption and why South Africa.
Although we are beginning our journey with one child, we hope to be able to make a big impact in South Africa. Mike and I are working on “changing the world” in our own way. We’ll keep you posted on that one.
We feel so blessed to be surrounded by family and friends who are so supportive. Many of you have expressed a desire to help, and although we know that this is our decision and our journey, we are not so egotistical as to think we can do it completely on our own. So, if you’d like to help us on our journey, here are some ideas:
1. If you live locally, we will be having another garage sale in September. We are accepting donations of any household items, toys, furniture, books, etc. (no clothing please). More details to come.
2. Hire Cassi to make a slipcover. Everything I earn at Piping and Pleats during the year of 2013 will go toward the costs of this adoption and the travel expenses necessary.
3. Donations. If you’d like to donate directly toward our adoption expenses in South Africa including the medical care they will need, you can do so here.
You can follow our journey here on this blog. We are expecting some trials and struggles, but we are looking forward to many miracles.
